Calboy bio: Calboy (formerly 147 Calboy) is an American rapper out of South Chicago, Illinois. He rose to prominence after his single “Envy Me” took the internet by storm raking in millions of streams. His official YouTube channel, created in August 2013, has over 4.5 million views. Calboy was born Calvin Woods on April 3, 1999, in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in an area that witnessed a lot of robbing, killing, and drug dealing. To stay out of harm’s way, he relocated to an area he refers to as the Cal. Growing up, Calboy suffered greatly from anxiety. Being diagnosed with the disorder, he took various steps to stay calm. In an interview, he stated that he took pills and smoke marijuana to control his anxiety. Drugs such as Xanax were used to combat his sleeping disorder. From a young age, Calboy showcased a passion for music. In 6th grade, he and his brother began rapping. He attended high school and graduated in June 2017. Throughout HS, he polished his craft and showed no hint of slowing down. Though little information exists about his family, he seems to have a close relationship with them. He aspires to become financially stable; paying off his family debts and relocating them to their desired location. In 2016, Calboy kicked off his rapping career. His earliest tracks performed poorly and received minimal feedback. However, in 2017, his tracks began attracting large audiences. One of his earliest standout singles “Bam Bam” received over 100k streams on SoundCloud and YouTube. That July, Calboy released a 10-track project, The Chosen 1. In addition to “Bam Bam,” it was led by singles “Chose Me” and “Flavor.” In December 2017, he released, yet, another mixtape, Anxiety. Featuring Lil Duke, its standout tracks included “VVS’s,” “Miss Me,” and “Fatality.” Despite being the recipient of thousands of plays, the project did not provide the breakthrough Calboy desired. In 2018, Calboy’s career advanced to a new plateau. He exploded onto the scene with the single “Envy Me.” Released in September 2018, the song accomplished what others could not. On SoundCloud alone, it has received over 2.6 million plays. The YouTube link added another 3 million views. It also gained traction on Spotify. The song got him noticed and opened a world of opportunities. Prior to its release, he dropped another mixtape, Calboy The Wildboy. The project featured 10 tracks by multiple producers. It was led by “No Head,” “Run,” and “Ku Ku.” Recently, Calboy reportedly signed a record deal with RCA Records’ sector, Polo Grounds Music. The contract is said to be worth $3 Million USD. The authenticity of such a claim is currently pending.
